“You have to fight with some bad days to get to the best days of your life.”- Karen Salmansohn.
We all have days in our lives when we don’t want to get out of bed, and some of those days can last for days or months, and we feel like nothing can make us feel better or that we have lost the meaning of our lives. Why? That is exactly the question we never ask ourselves.
We always end up staying in bed, overthinking, or simply going out and doing nothing. And, to be honest, we need to start rolling with the punches that life throws at us. Here are four things you can do to get over the thought of giving up!
ASK ‘WHY’
We live in a fast-paced world where we frequently work or become so involved in something that it feels monotonous and exhausting some days. This is where our problems start, and we start wondering, ‘What am I doing with my life?’ ‘Do I even live my life properly?’ and so on. But we don’t ask ourselves ‘why’ it’s happening, which is an important question to ask because it will reveal how long it has been since we were happy and how our colourful life has turned into a black and white movie.
INSPIRE YOURSELF!
There are good days, bad days, and some days when all we need is INSPIRATION in our lives! Going through a difficult time is natural, but giving up on those times is not, so when you hit a stumbling block in your life, try to focus on something that can change your perception. Try to read good books or listen to inspirational podcasts to calm your brain and clear your mind so you can get back on track! So, try to give yourself a boost of inspiration from time to time to keep you from feeling lost and sad in the present.
CHEER YOURSELF!
When you’re feeling down, one of the best things you can do is something crazy, stupid, or, in some cases, nothing! While you may be a student, an employer, or an employee, you should never lose sight of the fact that you are, first and foremost, a human being! Everyone deserves a break, and if you’re down and don’t know how to get out of it, do something you’d never do at that time! I know it sounds crazy, but it will make you feel a thousand times better and will make you forget about whatever you were upset about in the first place.
Taking a spontaneous trip, having some adventures, camping, being lazy and sleeping all day, or dancing at a club are some examples. The choice is yours, but the best part is that you’ll have this wonderful feeling inside that will convince you that you’re fine and can keep going!
BE GRATEFUL AND PROUD
Gratitude is another word for thanking nature for everything she has given us. Giving thanks, according to research, makes you happier. When we are going through a difficult time, it is difficult to stay normal, so when you practise gratitude, you close your eyes, look into your past, and see what you have accomplished. It convinces your mind that this is just a phase that will pass because you are capable of accomplishing greater things in your life. When you do this, you feel proud, give yourself a pat on the back, and know that everything is fine. I know I’ll do better next time!
People will come and go in your life, but you must realise that until and unless you love yourself, everything will appear dark until you try to bring light into your life.
Always remember- “Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself.”- Coco Chanel.
