We are all in for travelling and the experiences that tag along with it. But what keeps us from planning a trip is mostly the budget. Hardcore travellers do not mind the pinching in their pockets because what matters to them is the adrenaline rush they get from travelling. But not all of us will have the heart to spend a fortune, and it is reasonable. That’s exactly why we have handpicked a list of places for you to visit this monsoon season, and the best part is… (drumroll) – you can pay a visit to these places UNDER 10K! (but hey, the air ticket’s on you).

So, no more slouching around this July. Unleash the Tin-tin in you, pack your bags and put on your travel shoes, because you’ve got some places to explore!

1.  Kodaikanal, Tamil Nadu

It would be a crime if I didn’t start off with the ‘Princess of Hill Stations’. Yaas! It is Kodaikanal. This place down south in Tamil Nadu is renowned for its mellow woods, breathtaking views from steep cliffs, the splash of greenery in its landscape, and rich flora. It is also home to various tourist spots such as the Kodaikanal lake, Bear Shola falls, Dolphin’s Nose Point etc. From angling and boating in the lake to trekking your way through the rocks to arrive at a viewpoint (shaped like that of a Dolphin’s nose) to take a look at the hanging clouds and deep valleys, this place is heaven on earth.

2. Dehradun, Uttarakhand

A city nestled among hills, a hotspot of around 37 tourist places with countless adventurous activities, Dehradun is one of the most sought after destinations in the Himalayan foothills. Even the touring options in the city are diverse, ranging from air and balloon tours, hiking tours, cultural theme tours, private tours, etc. During your stay there, do visit the Forest Research Institute, the Tibetan Buddhist temple, Chetwode Hall, Robber’s Cave, and not to forget the Tiger Falls. I’m gonna stop all the detailing here and go with the saying, “Dehradun is something you can’t understand. You can only feel it” – so get your travel bag ready!

3. Lonavala, Maharashtra

One of the top picks for a monsoon visit would be Lonavala. Trust me when I say, one step into the town and the serene feeling is gonna hit you! The tranquillity of the place, the lush and exotic greenery, the skyline-silver lakes, the narrow valleys… I can keep going on, but I’ll stop. Honestly, what else does one want other than this? Also, among the myriad of places to visit, do not miss out on the Karla Caves, Tikona Fort, Pawna Lake, Canyon Valley, and, of course, the Tiger’s Leap.

4. Tawang, Arunachal Pradesh

If you want some time for yourself in a North- Eastern town, Tawang is the right place to enjoy your ‘me time’. Because what’s better than having a time-out in a place where the clouds lounge on hill tops and the surrounding area is a sight for sore eyes! But the town is not all about its scenic beauty. You can also catch sight of our age old history in their Buddhist monasteries and the culture and traditions they comply with. I’ll give you another piece of info and I bet you’ll be sold – a quick, relaxing dip in a natural hot spring when the weather is chilling on its own (i.e., actual ‘CHILLING’ while we are frozen to the bone). How does that sound? – Ding! Sold!

5. Wayanad, Kerala

As usual, I saved the best for last. The whole of Kerala is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G but Wayanad is love! It is the whole package when it comes to its picturesque views, waterfalls, rocky caves, camping spots, bird-watching sites, lofty mountains, crystal clear rivers and whatnot. You can let loose the daredevil in you and go on mountain hikes, raft rides, and explore the tea estates and islands nearby. The entire place has a vibe, but the must-visits are Chembra Peak, Kuruva Island, Edakkal Caves, Lakkidi viewpoint, and Iruppu Falls.

It’s high time we take a break from the daily chaos of life and travel to new places for new experiences. Because, after all, life is a journey and one should make the most out of it.

Let’s beat Dora and become the next famous explorer, lol.

Bon voyage!
