Did you know how much plastic we throw away each year? Globally, we produce about 400 million tons of plastic waste yearly! 3.47 million tonnes from our country alone!
Don’t get petrified by numbers, just imagine the fate of our ignorance! It’s time to educate our children about the harsh reality!
Plastic is just not another waste! Simply saying, Increasing carbon footprint to global warming, mere littering of this single-use plastic can result in grave catastrophe.
While RRR is a one-thought-out solution (Not the movie yaar! It’s reduce, reuse, recycle), come let’s participate in this initiative with our children by reusing plastic bottles to make amazing crafts which are very useful.
Let’s learn the art of making crafts out of waste bottles:
Pencil pouch for your kid
Gift your child/niece this no-sew zipper pencil pouch and win their heart in no time!
What all you should have:
- Waste water bottle
- Glue gun
- Scissors
- Stationery knife
- Adhesive rod
- 2 Plastic bottles
- Zipper
Follow these steps to make it:
- Take one plastic bottle, you just kept aside to throw in the waste bin.
- Remove all the labels and do not forget to remove the sticky places using varnish-removing liquids.
- Using a stationery knife cut the bottles at a 1:3 ratio.
- Now it’s time to take the zipper and stick them to both the cut pieces using a glue gun. Our organizer of plastic bottles is ready.

Gorgeous plastic flowers
Look at these pictures! Can you believe you can make this just using a waste water-bottle? Try these out:
What all you should have:
- Plastic bottles (green or white)
- Acrylic paints
- Glue
- Glitter
- Scissors and knife
- Marker pen
- Candle
- Glue gun
Follow these steps to make it:
- Clean the bottle and remove all the labels. Now, cut the bottom part of your bottle with a knife
- Using a scissor cut out the shape of the petals (any shape of your choice).
- Light a candle and smoothen the edges of the plastic with the flame. Make a small hole in the middle.
- Now cut a long rectangle strip from the bottle and make vertical cuts to make a pollen stem (stamen)
- Now take a thick wire and twist the strip around it and using candlelight smoothen the edges and glue it properly.
- Now add some glue to the ends and dip it in glitter and let it dry
- Now keep adding the petals we made through the wire and glue it properly.
- Add this to a flower vase and your low-cost decoration piece is ready

Plastic Piggy Bank Craft
This craft also nurtures saving habits in children as well.
What all you should have:
- Plastic bottle
- Scissors
- Paper
- Permanent marker
Follow these steps to make it:
- Choose a bottle with a wide mouth
- Now, cut a rectangular hole on one side(for the coins to go in).
- Draw two ears on paper and cut them according to shape and stick it on top of the head. You can customise the look of your piggy bank.
- The ears must be attached to the same side of the slit.
- Find something like pegs to serve as legs and stick them with glue on the opposite side of the bottle
- Stick googly eyes and draw two holes on the cap for the cute piggy’s nose
- Your cute piggy bank is ready!
